Welcome.......

Welcome to my Blog - I am new to this so might be a bit boring - feel I want to put down what is happening in my life just now - so much going on!

Well, it has been a long time since I wrote in this blog - I am still on home haemodialysis and it is going fine.  The only blot I have had was that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the December after I started home dialysis and was subsequently taken off the transplant list for 5 years. I had a mastectomy and could not have chemo or radiotherapy as I am on dialysis, so I have to take a hormone tablet for 5 years initially, but now being extended to 10 years.  I have been attending the Beatson and the consultant there told me I don't have to go back for two years! This coincides with me being able to go back on the transplant list after 5 years if I am deemed to be fit enough!

Anyway, we are just back from staying at the lovely Cobleland campsite near Aberfoyle.  We all love it there and we had the best weather we have had in years.

We also have a new addition to our family - Barney - he is a black Labrador, born on 30 April 2012.  He is a lovely natured dog - very boisterous and loyal.  He is my friend during the day when hubby and son are at work and school!

Missing our motorhome......

Really missing going away in our motorhome - it is a Lunar Champ A630- My husband, son and I love it. We have had it since June 2006 and have gone on a west and north of scotland tour. Places visited included Oban, Isle of Lewis, Poolewe, Gairloch, Durness, Dunnet Bay - drove the the most northerly point which is Dunnet Head, Dornoch. We have been as far south as Blackpool (Caravan Club site- very smart and handy for Blackpool - can also hire a car there too) and on the way home from there we stopped at Kielder Water site which is also a fabulouse place in the middle of nowhere, but with great facilities. October 2006 we went to St Andrews and had a lovely time there too, son learned how to go on his 2 wheel scooter as it was nice and flat on the site.

We have also been to our favourite area quite a lot too - Moray Coast - Cullen and Lossiemouth are our favourites, Cullen being the most liked.

Last year we went to Dumfries and Galloway and stayed at New England Bay - another great site, but quite far out from the town. We took the van to the most southerly point in Scotland at Drummore and visited the lighthouse there.

This year we have only been away a couple of times in our van - firstly to Cobleland in Aberfoyle - another of our favourite sites - it is a Forest Holidays site and has ranger walks, etc. Our main holiday in July was to Grantown on Spey for a week and then to Cullen for another week. It has been our last holiday in the van as I have now started Haemodialysis and we are now restricted to weekends. Unfortunately, due to illnesses, work commitments etc we have not been able get away, but hopefully we get away for some days out and maybe a weekend again.
Been playing about with my blog site - it is great to be able to change it - I really like this one as it looks really peaceful... Need some peace in my life - feel as if people are never out of my house and I have got lots to do, stuff to go to the charity shop - stuff to sort through and books to find a home for!!!!
Plumbers and electricians are here again- car in garage and will have to stay overnight as the relevant part is not available, as usual!!!!. Feel quite good today - obviously the tablets are working to stop the Labyrinthitis. Son sitting playing Pokemon Platinum (been very quiet - most unusual). Just waiting until workmen leave, so we can have lunch. Nice day today, wish I could be out in the garden doing soome tidying up.

Wednesday 14/10/09

Had a good day on dialysis today - we didn't need any help going on or coming off - bit bored though so ended up falling asleep - poor hubby can't do that - he has to stay awake!

Came home yesterday to a large box outside my back door - turned out to be a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my workmates. So nice of them to think of me.

Got to keep organising my stuff to whittle it down - need to clear out even more - got to go to garage tomorrow as car needing service and mot - then getting lift back from father-in-law to get home in time for the plumbers coming!!! Will see how it goes.........!

About me.....

I am 44 and have been on Haemodialysis since 27/7/2009 - my husband and I are in the process of training on the dialysis process and machine so that we can carry out the dialysis at home. The training is going well, and I was feeling much better after the dialysis session. Just one problem - I got Labyrinthitis on 13/9/09 and have been suffering from it on an off since then. It is a horrible illness - you feel like your head is spinning around and I couldn't stop being sick. (Yuk).

Today there are electricians in finishing off the spare room, turning it into a dialysis room. Plumbers are supposed to be today, but electrician told me he thinks they are coming on Thursday. This is not good as the car has to go into the garage on Thursday, which meanst I will have to arrange a lift home. Son is off on school holidays this week - he is bored stiff - friends are either away somewhere or are not coming out to play. Hubby is at Uni all day and so I am left here with the workmen (and girl) and bored son!!
